Laboratory Services

The highly complex laboratory at the Palo Alto County Health System performs approximately 100,00 tests each year in the specialty areas listed below. The exceptionally skilled staff consists of one phlebotomist, three medical technologists, and six medical laboratory technicians who can provide coverage 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week. We participate in the American Proficiency Testing Institute to assure the accuracy of testing results and are inspected by a CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) certified state inspector.

Laboratory services include diagnostic testing and follow-up testing for patient monitoring once the provider has made a diagnosis. Services also include employee wellness screens for participating employers. Our lab is a reference lab for the clinics in the Palo Alto County Health System, which includes the Family Practice Clinics in Emmetsburg, West Bend and Graettinger. Daily courier services between the clinics and the hospital aid in the rapid processing of patient samples. Our goal is to promote accurate test results in a timely manner so we can help you keep yourself healthy.

Services Include:

We have staff on call for post-accident testing, and for emergency testing, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
